TNA, document SC 8/20/998: The petition of the Cordwainers' Guild, London, addressed to the King and his Lords in parliament, c. 1388.
The last sentence of the fourth item reads Qe plese a nostre dit seignour le Roy & les seignours auantditz sur ceste horrible matire due remedie faire et charger Nicholl Exton’ ore maire du dite Citee de faire venir deuant vous touz les enditementz queux feurent prises en auantage du Roy pour dieu & en oeure de charitee<<ellis 2012 thesis 416-7>><<A Book of London English, 1384-1425 ("With the pleasure of oursaid lord the king and his lords beforesaid on this horrible matter due remedy given and charge Nicholas Exton or mayor of the said city summoned all the indictments that they are also brought to the king by god and in all charity")
