Brer Ruthven, 3rd Earl of Gowrie, born Patrick Leo Brer Hore-Ruthven on 4 February 1964, is, since September 2021, the holder of the earldom and two subsidiary titles, and separately is also Baron Ruthven of Gowrie, as well as hereditary Clan Chief of Clan Ruthven in Scotland.[1] A musician who has worked in IT, he has been married and has a son.
Early life edit
Gowrie is the only child of Grey Gowrie, poet, politician and art dealer, and 2nd Earl of Gowrie, and his first wife, Xandra (Alexandra) Bingley, worker for MI5, writer and editor.[2][3] From birth, he held the courtesy title of Viscount Ruthven of Canberra.[4] His parents divorced in 1973, and both later remarried.[3][5] He attended the exclusive Westminster School.[6][7]
Career edit
Gowrie has worked in IT and is a musician.[2] As of 2018, he was developing databases for City law firm Clyde & Co.
Personal life edit
Brer Ruthven married Julie Goldsmith in February 1990, and they had one son, Heathcote Patrick Cornelius Hore-Ruthven, born 28 May 1990.[1][4] He was mentioned in a range of newspapers and other media after a domestic incident in 2018.[6]
He succeeded to the titles on the death of his father, 24 September 2021.[2][3]
