Mireille Rouchon known under the pseudonyme Mireille Calmel when writing (born the 8 of december at Martigues) is a french novelist writer.
Biography
editMireille Calmel was sick as a kid. She was told she was likely to die by her doctors at the age of 9. By the age of 15, she had recovered and published her first novel “Angéline”.
She founded her own theatre association for children aged 6 to 18. In 1997, she writes a play that is a huge success. The text of the play is set in the National archives by the French ministry of culture.
This success pushed Mireille Calmel to stop teaching theatre and pursue a career as a writer. She finishes writing her first novel in 1998 and one year later starts looking for a publisher. The director of XO editions finds her text and signs her.
The final publication is delayed as a preview is organized and a launch in 9 languages is planned.
She has over 11 million readers in over 15 European countries.
