The Verdant Casque This organisation (TVC) was created in 2008 as part of the [Nethernet] game. A Passive Multiplayer Online Game, The Nethernet made it possible for groups of like-minded players to play in different ways, such as collectively prevent players of a different type, from carrying out their actions. One group was formed called The Verdant Casque.

The Casque (for short) had a following of players called vigilantes or 'lantes' for short, whose purpose and intent was to dish out justice in their own way.

As a way to organise such justice and prevent like-minded lantes from duplicating work or attacking each other in the game, this alliance was formed.

During its life, TVC participated in planned events to demoralise opponents, attack them in a co-ordinated manner and to create an image of victory over its opponents. There are arguments both for and against their inception and their level of success, but they were well known on The Nethernet as a result of their actions.

As of 12th October 2010, The Nethernet servers were shut down, leaving no gameplay. The Casque was long since gone, but members of the lante group still keep in touch, with the intent of arising in gameplay somewhere in the future.

Verdant Casque Tributes A number of tributes to the organisation arose over its lifetime and since it went underground. The Nethernet's Elite Lante Organisation was written as a salute to the member players.

Leaderboard Takeover One of the events organized by TVC was to play in a manner which meant that only TVC players would feature on a leaderboard. (The leaderboards indicated the strongest players in a given 24 hour period). TVC chose the 'Destroyer' leaderboard and played as destroyers, rather than lantes for 24 hours, to take over their board.
