The Sarodiya Brothers (Arka Roy and Shounak Roy) are the Students of Indian classical music. Both brothers are the disciples of Legendary Sarod Maestro Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta (Padma Bhushan awardee) of The Senia-Shahjahanpur Gharana.

Arka Roy(born in January 2003) and Shounak Roy (born in December 2006) had started receiving training on Indian Classical Instrumental Music-Sarod from Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta since their very tender ages. Both brothers were born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

Arka Roy is a recipient of the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) Scholarship under the Scheme for award of Scholarship to Young Artistes in Different Cultural Fields (SYA 2021-2022) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in the field of Hindustani Music Instrument (Sarod).

Arka Roy is also the Winner (String Instrument Category) in The Doverlane Music Conference Talent Search Contest 2022-23 organized by The Doverlane Music Conference and The Doverlane Music Academy, Kolkata and performed in the periodical program of The Doverlane Music Conference and The Doverlane Music Academy at the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata.

Shounak Roy is a Scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, West Bengal, India and is receiving training under Guru Shri Abir Hossain who is one of the finest disciples of Padma Bhushan Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta and Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.

Shounak Roy is one of the young talented musicians selected Nationwide for Sri Shanmukhananda Bharat Ratna Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship in Music from Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai, India.

Shounak Roy has received The Telegraph Online Edugraph 18 under 18 Award – 2024 from The Telegraph online Edugraph for his remarkable achievements in the field of Art and Culture (Indian Classical Instrumental Music – Sarod) under the Age Group of 18 years, wherein 18 best candidates from different disciplines across Eastern India including West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh were awarded.

Shounak Roy won the The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence - Anirban Sinha Award in 2023, where he was honoured with a Gold Medal for his outstanding talent in Indian Classical Music, specifically in the instrumental category of Sarod.

Shounak Roy is a holder of records in The India Book of Records and The Asia Book of Records in 2024 for playing non-stop Musical String Instrument - Sarod for the longest duration of 4 hrs 45 mins and 31 secs covering 32 different Ragas of Indian Classical Music.
