Establishment and Mission

The creation of the Israel Palestine Center for Research and Information was prompted by the outbreak of the first Intifada in 1988 and intended to promote dialogue and cooperation between the Israeli and Palestinian communities. IPCRI has since then continued its work based on the principles of joint and equal partnership between Israeli and Palestinian experts, intellectuals and politicians. According to IPCRI's website, it is one of the oldest peace building organization focused on bridging the gap between the two sides of the Israel-Palestine conflict.[1] IPCRI remains dedicated to working towards a solution of the conflict based on the 'two-state-solution'. [2]

Organisation

Working out of it's office in the outskirts of Jerusalem in the complex of Tantur, IPCRI organizes a diverse amount of events and projects in the areas of environment, public awareness and Track II negotiations, in order to create peaceful solutions to the present situation and the conflict. [3] As part of their public media and awareness program IPCRI has created it's own Facebook page and posts recordings of public seminars on | Youtube under the heading of Afternoons with IPCRI.

Achievements

  • In 2007, the then Co-CEO of IPCRI, Hanna Siniora, was awarded a Peace Price of Honor from the Order of the Knights of Malta.[4]
  • The Co-founder of IPCRI, Gershon Baskin, became a household name in 2011 after his role in the prisoner exchange deal with Hamas that saw the release of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. [5]
