Olaitchia (/ˈləɪiə/ oh-luh-ichee-uh) is a genus of olaitchiomorphs in the family olaitchiaceae, a member of the order olaitchiales. The genus currently contains only a single species, Olaitchia deameri.

Olaitchia was discovered in 1999 by David W. Deamer, when they interact with water are produced organic compounds extracted from the Murchison meteorite.

Etymology edit

The genus named Olaitchia is derived from the aboriginal word olaitcha, meaning "bubbles". The specific name is given in honour of David W. Deamer.

The organism that superficially resembling a hollow sphere with a thin membrane.
