St Helier Town Hall being used as a polling station

Elections in Jersey are held at both the national level for connétables and deputies, who sit in the States Assembly, and at the parochial level for procureurs du bien public and centeniers. Since 2014, general elections for all members of the States Assembly have been held every four years, with the most recent election taking place in 2022.

Elections for procureurs du bien public and centeniers are held every three years, staggered at different times for each position. However, these elections are usually contested by only a single candidate, in which case no election is held and they are appointed automatically. This means parochial elections are actually very rare – the last time one was actually held was in 2015.

Jersey uses a mix of first-past-the-post voting and plurality block voting for its elections; connétables and other parochial offices are elected using FPTP, whilst deputies are elected from nine multi-member constituencies using PBV.
