Edinburgh Chihuahua Cafe
The worlds first Chihuahua Cafe is based in Edinburgh, UK. This cafe was opened by Tanya Salitura alongside support from her husband Ross Salitura.
Tanya has created a unique animal cafe experience. Although this business is certainly about dogs, in particular Chihuahuas, at its very core, its heart, is just one best friend. Ama (Tanya's first chihuahua) came in to her life when she really needed her and she’s been by her side ever since helping establish the cafe.
Edinburgh Chihuahua Cafe aim's to bring man’s best friend to the masses in the same way. As noted in the Cafe's blog, they feel everyone should get to experience the special love of these furry beauties and have the chance to form their own special bond with one of the most loving, loyal creatures on the planet. Petting a dog can reduce stress, bring joy and fun in to your day and just generally make you feel loved and valued and all the better for it
To visit this cafe, you book a time slot and once inside, the resident Chihuahuas will be roaming freely for you to pet, cuddle, play with, take photos or simply observe and enjoy the wonderful chihuahuas.
The concept of Animal Cafes originated in Southeast Asia and has been a growing market for some years. The UK and all its animal lovers are starting to get the bug and in the last few years Cat Cafes have been popping up in cities all over the UK.
