Aldo Steinfeld (*1960, Montevideo, Uruguay) is full professor of Renewable Energy Carriers at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at the ETH Zurich. He further leads the Solar Technology Laboratory of the Paul Scherrer Institute.

Steinfeld received the following degrees:
- B.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technion, 1983
- M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel Aviv University, 1986
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, 1989
- Research Fellow at the Energy Research Center of the Weizmann Institute of Science
Afterwards he joined the PSI and ETH.

His research program is aimed at the advancement of
- radiation heat transfer in multi-phase reacting flows;
- applied thermodynamics of novel energy conversion processes;
- high-temperature chemical reactor engineering;
- renewable fuels (e.g. solar hydrogen production);
- decarbonization and CO2 mitigation technologies.[1]
Editorial positions edit
Editor of the ASME Journal of Solar Energy Engineering and has authored over 190 research articles in refereed scientific journals[2]. Member of ASME, ISES, IAHE, AIChE.
