Background

edit

French Montana was born in Morocco, North Africa. He lived there up until the age of 13, where he then moved to the South Bronx area of New York City. He emigrated with his mother and his little brother, leaving the rest of his family behind.[3]

Montana is a friend of Max B.[4]

Cocaine City

edit

In 2002 at the age of 18, French Montana created the “Cocaine City” DVD imprint as a means to showcase his talent as an underground artist and a new voice from the New York streets. To gain a broader fan base, French incorporated interviews with major artists, as well as some up and comers. What started out as simply a medium for developing an audience quickly grew into one of the top selling “street DVD’s”, having sold nearly a million copies to date with national and international distribution.[5]

Konvict Muzik

edit

In 2009 French signed a 50/50 deal to Akon's Konvict Muzik.[6]
