What does it do? Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 11:57, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
If I understand correctly, it keeps the bot from automatically marking images/pages for deletion. It won't show up on the page itself, only in the edit window. I've started putting it in the descriptions of images, and haven't gotten a warning message from the bot since. Had 8 or 10 before, and still should clean the last of them from my talk page. Actually I don't think it will be that bad to do as a vector when we get to those.

How do you determine which ones should be raster and which vector? I know there's a method to your madness. :) Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 11:53, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Raster graphics include .bmp .gif .jpg png tiff Vector graphics include svg . The difference is when you enlarge them. sooner or later, rasters show their checkerboard of pixels. vectors never do, they're actually a mathematical description of the points, curves, etc. Svg files can be opened with a text editor, and all these descripitions read. On a vector, you can bascially zoom in forever if they're drawn well enough. As far as these go, if the quality is so bad that they need to be redrawn, it's easier to do with vectors. Vector drawing works well for making circles, ovals, and complex curves. It's easy to convert vector to raster (in fact it's always done for viewing as computer screens are really a form of raster). But going from raster to vector means hand drawing, or using the computer to try to trace the shape and then it has to describe describe the curve mathematically. Often gives poor results

(that's why I didn't toss you the Kosovo one immediately, it seems like a problem, and you sound like the work is much more complicated, and I know you're busy. Thanks for picking it up!)

Battle of Kostiuchnówka edit

Did you say you have a rotated version of Battle of Kostiuchnówka? I think I'd like a look at it, maybe we can make a salvageable free image. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 06:08, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Rotated with new colors. [here]. I had the impression that he could label it. Sagredo⊙☿♀♁♂♃♄ 00:58, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

That's really nice! You should do this stuff for a living! Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 21:57, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
