The 2020–21 CFU Regions League is the second edition of the CFU Regions League, a quaternary tournament for the top teams in the Caribbean nations not to qualify for the Champions League, SuperLiga, or Confederations League.
The tournament was originally scheduled to begin in June 2019 and concludes in March 2020; however, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the format of the tournament was greatly altered. The qualification rounds featured teams from the same country or nearby islands as much as possible to minimize travel, while the group stage was entirely held in December 2020 at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida United States.
Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
edit
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the schedule, format, and number of teams in the Regions League. Rather than the normal two-legged qualification rounds, all qualifying rounds were reduced to a single leg. Teams were unseeded and geographically determined who to play, with teams from the same nation encouraged to play each other.
The group stage was held entirely within a neutral location, and the number of group stage games was reduced from six to three.
