Ed Engle (born 1950) is an American fly fisherman, author and educator. Raised in Alexandria, Virginia[1], Engle developed a lifelong love of fly fishing during his youth. Over the years, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the fly fishing community, particularly for his expertise in small fly tactics and techniques.

Engle has authored numerous books on fly fishing and has contributed articles to a variety of publications including the Colorado Springs Sun, Fly Fishing Magazine, and Rod and Reel[2]. His written works focus on innovative fly-tying techniques and strategies for fishing small streams and high mountain lakes[3]. He is also an avid educator, leading fly-tying workshops, fishing courses, and seminars across the United States[4].

While much of Engle's fishing experience is centered in the western United States, his pursuits have taken him to diverse locations worldwide including Alaska, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and across Europe[5]. Known for his dedication to wild trout fishing, Engle also enjoys targeting king salmon with fly fishing techniques[6].

Currently residing in Colorado, Engle spends much of his free time fishing the South Platte River and sharing his expertise through teaching and writing[7]. His contributions to the fly fishing community have helped popularize small-fly tactics and inspired anglers across the globe.
