Mason SBDC (Small Business Development Center) Provides free counseling to small businesses in Northern Virginia, specifically Fairfax, Prince William and Arlington Counties. It is a non-profit organization and has been in service since 1989. It is one of 29 SBDCs in Virginia.

Mason SBDC is located at George Mason University in the Mason Enterprise Center at the Office of Research and Economic Development.

Services

Mason SBDC offers consultations and one-on-one counseling along with training for small business owners. Mason SBDC also informs them of other beneficial public resources. The consultations are given by professionals within the Mason SBDC Volunteer Network. These include law firms, CPA firms, banks, and experienced entrepreneurs.[1]

In 2010, Mason SBDC counseled more than 480 businesses and helped businesses in raising $10 million in capital formation. They also helped to create 230 jobs and retain 960 jobs. In 2011, Mason SBDC received the Small Business Center of Excellence and Innovation Award.
