The Boynton Beach Art District, located between 401-422 West Industrial Avenue in the City of Boynton Beachwas designated as the Boynton Beach Neighborhood Arts District in 1989 by petition by sculptor Richard Beau Lieu who opened his studio with partner Norman Peyser in 1988 In 2011 American artist, Rolando Chang Barrero moved into the area from South Beach opened the ActivistArtistA Gallery and rebranded the area as the The Boynton Beach Art District as it is know today. The ActivistArtistA Gallery quickly caused a stir with the Baby Whores and Other Political Commentaries curated by Rolando Chang Barrero. Julio Poletti of the Palm Beach Post refers to the District as "INSTAGRAM-PERFECT STOP" which has continued to flourish and is now recognized as one of South Florida's emerging neighborhoods in Boynton Beach by South Florida Business Journal
