William Thompson (25 August 1629 – February 1692) was an English politician who sat as a Member of Parliament for Scarborough at various times from 1660 to 1692.

Life

Thompson was born on 25 August 1629, the first son of Stephen Thompson and his wife, Mary. William was educated at Merchant Taylors' School in 1646. He married Frances Barnard on 28 August 1654 and they had 5 sons and 6 daughters.[1]

In the third rendition of the Long Parliament, Thompson was defeated by Sir John Legard, 1st Baronet, whom Thompson would later unseat during the Convention Parliament.[1]

During the Exclusion Bill Parliament, Thompson served with his son Francis.[1]
