First used 1871 by Metropolitan District Ry (in its own right) as maintenance depot (before)
Then District Ry separated from Metropolitan Ry and had to buy its own locos etc and set up a repair and storage depot. Set up on land to west of curve from Earl's Ct to West London Ry. Needed a reversal to access.
Depot completed in 1872 & in 1874 was connected to District's Hammersmith connection with a line to West Kensington station.
