HED (Hierarchical Event Descriptors) is a framework for using controlled vocabularies to systematically describe experimental context and events. HED development and management is entirely open, and the output of HED efforts are freely available.

The HED governance and decision-making document describes the mission and overall responsibilities of the various members of the HED community, all of whom are volunteers.

The HED-maintainers is a subset of the members of the HED Working Group who are responsible for maintaining the infrastructure associated with the Hierarchical Event Descriptor standards. Because the HED-maintainers are directly involved in supporting the HED effort and wish to contribute to the editing of a page on Hierarchical Event Descriptors, they declare this conflict of interest.
