Pasenger

Pasenger is an American alternative rock band formed in 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. The band consists of vocalist Jim Meek, guitarist Deric Wynne, Drummer Tommy Meek and the newest member Joel Martinez on bass. Their first EP, You Are Here, was released in November 2007. Their hit single Red Walls was embraced by the public, receiving air-play from numerous college stations as well as a number of major stations.

In the summer of 2009, the band was set to release their first full length album Don't Bet Your Life On It but after a series of pitfalls in album production, the band decided to give away all copies of manufactured CD's and opted to not sell any of their songs on iTunes.

A little more than a year later, Pasenger is back in the studio and finishing up work on their new self-titled LP.

History

edit

Pasenger began as a collaboration between Jim Meek and Deric Wynne; two friends writing, performing and recording demos of songs. It wasn't long before Tommy Meek and Rome Hooks rounded out the line up that would become Pasenger. Though the line up resembled that of former band Meek, the sound was anything but. In the same year Pasenger released their debut album You Are Here. The EP was a strong statement of arrival for a young band. It's first single Red Walls was embraced by the public, receiving air-play from numerous college stations as well as a number of major stations.

The positive exposure from radio, captivating live shows, and some grass-roots hustling by the band secured them a solid following in the region. Just when things had started rolling along, Rome Hooks would announce that he would have to leave Pasenger. Apparently the commitment of time and the traveling was proving to be too much for him at that point in his life. There were no hard feelings inside the band, everyone understood that it was not an easy decision for him to make.

Pasenger moved on and did much more than just fill in the missing piece, they recruited bass player Mike Cross and added rhythm guitarist/vocalist Jon Grey. The band had been kicking around the idea of adding a fifth member for sometime. What had started out as a straight forward indie pop rock band had expanded to include layered guitars and keyboards. Armed with a new line up and a heightened sense of conviction Pasenger was ready to record their first full length album.
