Hot As Sun (band) is an American Lo-Fi Electro act comprised of Jamie Jackson and Deborah Stoll. While the band is based out of Los Angeles, California, Jamie hails from Mississippi and Deborah is a New York City native.

The band officially formed in May of 2010, after meeting at an Integratron Sound Bath in Joshua Tree where they bonded over “weird sounds, Magic Houses, Pegasus and Bacon”[1]. Jamie then spent the summer recording the music for what would eventually become their debut EP, which was inspired by and recorded on an Omnichord in her downtown Los Angeles loft. Soon after, music videos and live images were crafted in Deborah’s house in Silverlake, CA.

In November of 2010, Hot As Sun self-released their 4 song debut EP. The record, which was also self-produced, has since found praise on tastemaker blogs such as Buzzbands LA[2], My Old Kentucky Blog [3] and The Deli Magazine [4] as well as in the LA Times [5] and on the Radio station KCRW.

Hot As Sun has been described as “Retro Electric Magic” [6] and have become known for their live shows, which feature projected visuals, laser lights, and an ever-changing cast of go-go dancers. During their live performances, they are joined on stage by a supporting band, which includes Waz (guitar), Doug Port (electronic drums), and Kimmy Gatewood (Trombone, Omnichord, and Bgvs).

The band is also known for their D.I.Y aesthetic, which is demonstrated in their homemade recordings and videos as well as their hand made merchandise.
