How to warn users

I saw you warned User:58.162.63.211 about vandalism and suggested they check out the sandbox. Thank you for doing that. However, there are better ways to do so. They require less typing and help us get the problem users banned.

For that, please check out Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. That page has a collections of templates you can use to warn users about all kinds of things. In the main table, the farther to the right you go, the more serious the warnings. The ones that state something like "You have been blocked" are for Admin use only. However, feel free to use the others.

Notes:

• Each template should be substituted with the "subst:" keyword. Instead of {{test}}, write {{subst:test}}.
• Also, most of these templates take a page name as a parameter. In the case mentioned above, you could have used {{subst:test|Page Name}}. (I don't know the page name you warned about.)
• Some of the templates add a section header for you. Preview the page if you aren't sure.
• If you see a user that has been warned with a "final warning" template several hours ago, but that user is still vandalizing pages, please list the user at the Admin vandal block request list.

BTW, in case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. Egyptian dates

The dates I typed in are the traditional Egyptian dates and come mostly from page 390-391 of Nicholas Grimal's 1992 book "A History of Ancient Egypt." They derive from R. B. Parker's work on Sothic dates in the 1950's--see R. Parker, The Calendars of Egypt. Studies in Ancient Oriental Civilization 26. Chicago: The Oriental Institute, 1950. Some other Wikipedia monitors have already read Grimal's book and posted information from it for the chronology of the 12th Dynasty kings such as Senusert I before I came along. The dates are not "fixed in stone" since they depend on the Year 7 Sothic date of Senusert III being observed at the town of Lahun where it was found (which would date it to 1872 BC) and place this king's accession at 1878 BC. The dates also rely on a 19 year reign for Senusert II as the Turin Canon seems to indicate; however, some scholars prefer to limit his reign to only 10 years since no documents thus far give him Year 10+X dates. If so, the offered dates could be shifted forward in time by a decade. But basically, they can be relied upon within a +/- 10 year range thereabouts. 24.87.136.31 11:36, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Dj Disco Wiz

I concur on your edits. I came across his article Dj Disco Wiz while doing a random article check. It reads like a vanity puff written by a friend which he has begun to edit. I don't believe he has done anything notable because I have never seen him quoted in a published source or any Spanish TV programs I watch. And with an MS in Science, I split my time equally on American and Spanish TV. Ronbo76 01:35, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
