Cobra Gold is an annual multilateral military exercise conducted in southeast Asia. It is hosted by Thailand, and currently also involves troops from the United States, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (South Korea).

Cobra Gold 2010 involved more than 6,000 troops from six nations, including the United States, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and Japan, with South Korea joining as an observer. [1] The exercises were designed to enhance interoperability in multilateral peacekeeping operations and humanitarian and disaster responses. [2]

Cobra Gold 2011 will be conducted February 1-11, 2011, and will involve 14,000 soldiers from six nations. This exercise marked the first year South Korea participated as a full member. Malaysia has also expressed interested in participating in the drills. [3]
