African Song is a fictional song contest based on the Eurovision Song Contest. It takes place two times per year (first time on January-February and second time on August-September) in various countries around the world, mostly in African and Arabic countries. For the increase of the TV ratings, the supervisor decided to allow some countries from outside African and Arabic area to participate. The format consists of one show. However there are some heats where the singers of the participating countries perform their song in order to get the ticket to the big final which is aired live on TV. Voting system is almost based on the eurovision one, but the top points are 10 while there are 9 points as well making the second top points. 3 juries from all the participating countries award their ten favourite songs from 1 (the least favorite) to 10 points (their top favorite).

All Arabic and African countries can participate in the African Song. The biggest amount of participants was 31 in 2015 edition, the first ever African Song (countries that didn't qualify to the final included). The song submissions are open for two weeks some days before the heats. There is not a specific number of heats, it always depends on the amount of the participants. The big final consists of 20 countries.
