History of Research

edit

Humans have been monitoring the movement of blood through the body from as early as 2500 BC in China - the Nei Ching states 'all blood is under control of the heart' and 'the blood flows continuously in a circle and never stops'. Understanding the movement of blood around the body, and changes due to sex, age or time of day were important in monitoring general individual health. [5]
