A Brief History

My name is Matt Clough. I was born on August 25, 1987 in The Fan district of Richmond, Virginia in the house accross from Joe's Inn. At the age of four my family moved to the The West End where I was raised for fourteen years in a lower middle-class environment. My father was (and remains) a paper salesman and my mother was employed as a secretary at the The Martin Agency but left the job upon our move to the suburbs. She has had many jobs since then.

Education

I attended Tuckahoe Elementary School from kindergarten to fifth grade and Tuckahoe Middle School from sixth to eighth grade.
I attended Freeman High School from ninth to twelfth grade and spent half of my days at the Henrico High School Center for the Arts where I concentrated in Visual Art. Major awards recieved in high school include acceptance into the Summer Residential Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts, entry in a juried exhibiton at Art 6 in Richmond, acceptance into the National Art Honors Society, and a Silver Key Award for Portfolio in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
I currently attend The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, where I am majoring in Illustration. During my freshman year, I was one of five freshmen to be accepted into the 2006-2007 Juried Undergraduate Exhibiton

Skills

I am skilled in a wide array of artistic media including painting, drawing, sculpture, photo-emulsion screen printing, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and have a comprehensive knowledge of HTML web design
I am able to speak, comprehend, and write Spanish. Also I have some, but poor, ability to speak, comprehend, and write Russian.

Interests

In my spare time I enjoy drawing, playing guitar and mandolin, cooking, learning languages, reading, writing, philosophizing, bike-riding, sprinting, writing anonymous letters, and listening to music.
I am a Humanist and am currently making strides through independent media towards educating children on free thought so that they have the ability to think for themselves at an earlier stage in life. I also plan to someday join the Peace Corps or a similar organization in order to help people who really need it.
