Rabbi Yaakov Landau (1893-1986) was a Chabad chosid who served as the Av Beit Din (Town Rabbi) of Bnei Brak from 1936 to 1986. In his youth he served as the personal assistant of two Lubavitcher Rebbes, the RaShaB and Rebbe Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn.


Early years edit

The Landau family is a notable Jewish family who trace their ancestry to the 17th century rabbinical luminary Noda Bihudo. Yaakov Landau was born in 1893 in Kurenitz, Vilna Gubernye, Russia to Rabbi Moshe Landau, the Town Rabbi of Kurenitz.
