  • Needs a more specific modern description
  • When was term first used, any definitions online?
  • Gartner reports? other analysts? IDC, Forrester, Butler etc
  • IWR articles? Books?
  • Difference between Web and Enterprise search e.g. PageRank not effective, security, legacy file types, FULL text not free text as per google et al (due to spider timeouts etc), databases and other proprietory formats - Lotus Notes, Documentum, (see Microsoft white paper)
  • Needs a description for basis of vendor categories. e.g by OS, by public/Private co, by revenue, by location USA, Amsterdam etc, by analysts rankings - Gartner pref? copyright issues?

BUTLER : Enterprise Search tools enable users to find information from multiple information sources and repositories. The ability to aggregate information from corporate repositories through a single search, enables users to deliver a comprehensive view of all interactions with a customer or business partner about a product or piece of news, or about all the activity related to a business process.
