This is a list of full-size (400m) artificial outdoor speed skating rinks. Early speed skating rinks were natural ice usually constructed on lakes or large rivers due to the size of the track. The first rink built that used a refrigeration system to create artificial ice was built in place in year. The last Winter Olympics to use an outdoor speed skating rink was the 1992 Winter Olympics. The competition was held at the L'anneau de vitesse. Since then all Olympic speed skating competition have been held on indoor rinks.
