WinNc

edit

WinNc is a file manager for Microsoft Windows and was developed shortly after Windows 95 came out, to fill the gap of Norton Commander which was in those days only available for DOS. Therefore WinNc was together with Total Commander one or the first Norton Commander clones (see History). Although WinNc is based on the user interface of Norton Commander, it tries to blend in the Windows GUI, for example the rename function with F6 works as NC, but F2 renames the file using the Windows way. Furthermore, WinNc has a number of additional features, such as support for FTP and modern media [2] and has support for many languages.

Most important features of WinNc.net[3] not found in NC are: Full drag and drop support from and to WinNc; internal multimedia file viewing; File encryption and decryption; FTP support; Synchronization; Audio CD ripping. Additional features of WinNc 5[4] not found in NC are: Batch rename that supports regular expressions; Windows library support; Undo/Redo (in Beta); Encoding and decoding of audio files.
