একটি ফুল একটি আশীর্বাদ স্বরূপ তাঁর জন্মদাত্রীর নিকটে। ফুল যখন ফোটে তখন তার ফোটার দিগে আমাদের লক্ষ যায়না। যখন সে ফলে পরিলক্ষিত হয় তখন তাঁর আশীর্বাদ আমাদের চোক্ষে দৃষ্টান্ত হয়ে উঠে। আমরা ফুল ততক্ষণ আমাদের কর্মের সৌন্দর্যের জন্যে সাজিয়ে রাখি যতক্ষণ এর শোভা বঞ্চিত না হয়। কিন্তু, যিনি ফুলের জন্মদাত্রী তানার খবর কেউ নেয় না। তানার আহারেরও যে প্রয়োজন রয়েছে তাহা আমরা উপলদ্ধি করি না। বস্তুত না উপলদ্ধি করারও কারণ রয়েছে, অনেকে বলতে পারেন মনুষ্যের ন্যায় বৃক্ষগণও আহার প্রস্তুত করিয়া নিতে সক্ষম। এটা একটা প্রত্যক্ষ সত্য যে বৃক্ষ নিজেরাই আহার প্রস্তুত করে নিতে পারেন। শ্রদ্ধেয় হুমায়ূন স্যার আরেকটু বাড়িয়ে বলেছিলেন। তিনি বলেছিলেন বৃক্ষগণ নিজেদের মধ্যে আলোচনা করিতে পারে, তারা প্রেম - ভালোবাসা নিবেদন করিতে পারে। এমনকি একজনের সাথে আরেকজন সাক্ষাৎও করতে পারে। আমি এর কোনো বিপক্ষ নিব না কারন যে বিপদ না বুঝে সেই সাহসি। আর,আমি এই প্রত্যক্ষ উক্তির পরিনাম কি তা বুঝতে পারিনি তাই আমি সেই সাহসি পুরুষের ন্যায় রহিলাম।এছাড়াও, বৃক্ষ সম্পর্কে শ্রদ্ধেয় মোতাহের স্যার বলেছিলেন যে বৃক্ষের গভীর রহস্য আমরা চর্ম চোক্ষে দেখিতে পাইনা। তাই বৃক্ষের তাৎপর্য বুঝতে হলে আমাদের কে অনুভূতির চোক্ষের প্রয়াস ঘটাতে হবে, তবেই এর গূঢ়াঁর্থ আমরা মনুষ্যিগণ উপলদ্ধি করিতে পারিব। বৃক্ষ আমাদের চোখের সামনেই দাঁড়িয়েই বৃদ্ধিপ্রাপ্ত হয় কিন্তু তাঁর বৃদ্ধি যে বয়সে নয় আত্মিকও সে বিষয়টি আমরা উপলদ্ধি করতে পারি না। শ্রদ্ধেয় রবীন্দ্রনাথ বৃক্ষের ফুলের ফোটার গুরুত্ব কে তাৎপর্য না দিয়ে নদীর প্রবহমান ঢেউকে গুরুত্ব দিয়েছেন। তিনি বলেছেন নদীকে অনেক বাধা পেরিয়ে সামনের দিগে প্রবাহ হতে হয়। অন্যদিকে শ্রদ্ধেয় মোতাহের স্যার বৃক্ষকে ফুলে - ফলে প্রাপ্তির এক অসীম নিয়ামত বলে আখ্যায়িত করেছেন। তিনি বৃক্ষের মধ্যেই জীবনের মহানুভবতা খোঁজে পেয়েছেন। বৃক্ষই শান্তির আশীর্বাদ বহন করে যাচ্ছে। সুতরাং সেই বৃক্ষের প্রাপ্তি অর্থাৎ তাঁর ফুল ও ফলের নিয়ামত নেওয়ার আগে তাঁর জলাঞ্জলি সম্পর্কে ভাবা উচিত। যখন আমরা বৃক্ষের পরিপূর্ণভাবনা উপলদ্ধি করতে পারবো তখনই আমরা নিজ স্বার্থ ত্যাগের মহিমা থেকে বেড়িয়ে আসতে সক্ষম হবো। নিজ স্বার্থ ত্যাগ করে পরার্থে আত্মনিবেদিত করার মতো জলন্ত ইঈিত কেবল বৃক্ষের ক্ষেত্রেই মানায় মনুষ্যের ক্ষেত্রে নয়। একে অন্যকে সাহায্য সহযোগিতা করার পরিবর্তে অন্যের অসুবিধাটা দাঁড়িয়ে টগবগিয়ে দেখাটা বাঙালির ক্ষীণ স্বভাব। কিন্তু, বৃক্ষের বেলায় এই নিয়ম সাজে না। পরের উপকারের জন্য সে সর্বদা একাট্টাবদ্ধ। প্রয়োজনে সে তাঁর নিজ প্রোকোষ্ট দিয়ে হলেও অন্যের উপকারে আসে। প্রকৃৃতপক্ষে অন্যের উপকারে আসাই হলো বৃক্ষের পরম ধর্ম। বৃক্ষের ন্যায় এরূপ পরম ধর্ম আমাদেরও হওয়া উচিত নয় কি। সর্ব রোগের প্রতিষেধক যে বৃক্ষ তা আমাদের দেখে তাত্থেকে শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করা উচিত নয় কি। অতএব, বৃক্ষের যে ধর্ম আমাদেরও সেই ধর্ম হওয়া চাই তবেই পরোপকারের মহান দৃষ্টান্ত আমাদের চোখের সামনে ফুটে উঠবে। অন্যের বিপদের সম্মোখে দাঁড়িয়ে না থেকে তাকে সহায়তা করাই হবে বৃক্ষের ন্যায় ধর্ম। বৃক্ষের মতো আমাদেরকেও প্রশান্তির প্রতীক হতে হবে। তবেই জীবনের গূঁঢ়ার্থ উপলদ্ধি করতে পারবো যে জীবন মানেই নিজ স্বার্থকে বড় করে দেখা নয়।
