Kalat Division or Qalat Division is an administrative division of Balochistan Province of Pakistan.[2] Its capital city is Khuzdar. The area of Kalat Division is 140,612 km².
In 2015, the Balochistan Assembly unanimously passed a resolution calling upon the provincial government to establish a new Rakhshan Division comprising the districts of Nushki, Chagai, Kharan and Washuk which were parts of Quetta and Kalat.
EGDI Government Status edit
According to the Economic Growth and Development Index (EGDI) 2021-22, the EGDI status of Kalat District is low.
The EGDI is a composite index that measures the performance of a district in terms of three key dimensions:
Economic growth: This dimension measures the growth of the district's economy, as measured by the gross district product (GDP). Infrastructure development: This dimension measures the development of the district's infrastructure, as measured by a number of indicators, including road density, electricity access, and literacy rates. Social development: This dimension measures the social development of the district, as measured by a number of indicators, including life expectancy, infant mortality rates, and gender equality. The EGDI status of a district is classified as follows:
High: EGDI score of 0.7 or above Medium: EGDI score of 0.55 to 0.69 Low: EGDI score of below 0.55 The EGDI status of Kalat District indicates that the district is performing poorly in terms of economic growth, infrastructure development, and social development. The district government needs to take steps to improve the district's performance in these areas.

Kalat Division established after dissolution of Balochistan state union in 14 October 1955.When the Baluchistan States Union became Kalat Division, Khuzdar was established as the divisional headquarters. At the time of establishment division had four districts (04) Kalat, Makran, Lasbela, and Kharan district.
In 1960, Lasbela district transferred to form Karachi-Bela division.
On 1 July 1971, Makran district separated from Kalat Division to form a separate division.
In 1972, Lasbela district again became a part of Kalat division.
In 1974, a new district Khuzdar was created from Kalat district and added to Kalat Division.
In 1991, Mastung district split from Kalat district territory and was included in Kalat Division.
In 1992, Awaran district split from Khuzdar district and was added to Kalat Division.
In 2007, Washuk district was created from Kharan district territory and added to Kalat Division.
On 17 May 2015, Kharan and Washuk district were shifted from Kalat Division to the newly established Rakhshan Division.
In 2017, Surab district was created from Kalat district territory and included in Kalat Division.
Recently, in 2022, Hub district split from Lasbela district and was added to Kalat Division'.
