Some Wikipedians like to add their personal pronouns to their signature to aid other users in identifying them correctly when communicating with them.
Benefits edit
Signing your messages with your pronouns helps prevent accidental misgendering. This applies especially to transgender and non-binary users. It also applies to cisgender women, since there is a widespread tacit assumption that most users of semi-anonymous Internet forums, such as Reddit, are men.[1][2] Additionally, signing with your pronouns signals to other users that Wikipedia is an inclusive place where LGBTQ+ users are respected. However, no user is obligated to display their preferred pronouns, on Wikipedia or elsewhere.
