Senior Mens
editAfter 1981-1984 US men's champion Scott Hamilton went to the professional ranks after winning the 1984 Olympics US 1983-1984 silver medalist Brian Boitano was the front runner[1]. Challenging him were skaters Mark Cockerell and Scott Williams.
Senior Ladies
editAfter 1984 Olympics Rosalyn sumners and Elaine Zayak went professional and the competition was expected to be about 1984 Olympiana Tiffany Chin taking the title.[2]
Senior Pairs
editPeter and Kitty Carrufhers went professional leaving the field wide open. No team that medaled in 1984 was still competing in 1985. New team of Watson Oppegaard won the title.[3]
Senior Dance
editMultiple US Champions and 4th place finishers at 1984 Olympics Judy Blumberg and Michael Seibert returned to try for another title and a world medal
