I am fond of superlatives. For example, what is the world's most valuable company? Saudi Aramco, estimated at up to 7 trillion USD[1][2][3]. Or the world's most valuable publicly traded company ever? PetroChina, which reached a market capitalization of a trillion USD in 2007[4]. Which city has the most skyscrapers? Dubai, if you count only buildings higher than 1/4 km. Hong Kong, if you also count buildings higher than 150m[5] (or 100m, or 35m). Here my table of cities with at least 100 completed or topped-out skyscrapers above 150m (2011):

City >=600m >=500m >=450m >=400m >=350m >=300m >=250m >=200m >=150m
Dubai 1 1 1 1 5 14 27 48 121
Hong Kong - - 1 2 4 6 15 52 272
Shanghai - - 2 3 3 4 16 45 109
Chicago - - - 2 2 6 12 27 110
New York City - - - - 2 4 10 52 223

And what is the biggest virtual community? As of 2010, it is Tencent QQ, with 636 million active user accounts - here my list of virtual communities with more than 100 million users:

Name Active user accounts Date
Tencent QQ 636 million[6][7] November 2010

Cities with most skyscrapers at least 100 meters high

edit

Hallo Quiname, your table "List of cities with most buildings higher than 100m (not enough for a skyscraper)" gives unbelievable figures. I'm working on a similar page on it.wikipedia and consulted the emporis.com page, which gives the full list, naming all of them with precise heights, of high-rise building. Counting the ones at least 100 meters high I found the following figures:

  • 681 skyscrapers in Hong Kong
  • 564 in New York

to name only the first two. Though the Emporis list may not be completely up to date, the figures in your list, especially for Hong Kong, are clearly much exagerated and not to be counted upon. Greetings, --Gabodon (talk) 15:53, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
