The 2016–17 Copa Nueva Esparta was the 45th edition of the top knockout tournament in Nueva Esparta. The tournament is a proposed tournament for all clubs based in the state of Nueva Esparta, that guarentees a berth in the CONCACAF Champions League for the winner, and a berth into the CONCACAF SuperLiga for the runner-up and third-place finisher. The tournament was won by Margarita who defeated Pepeganga in the championship match.

Format
editThe 16 teams were divided into four groups of four, and played six matches: two home and two away. The group winners and runners-up advanced to the knockout stage. The group stage matches began 23 August 2016 and went until 24 November 2016.
The knockout stage began on 25 January 2017 and ended on 16 April 2017.
