PSi ViSiON is the name given to a persistent wide area surveillance (PWAS) technology that overcomes the enormous data volume issues normally associated with high resolution continuous imagery applications. The volume of data generated in older PWAS technology did not allow real-time use of the data or it caused system developers to design surveillance tools that reduced the data volume by limiting the area of regard or reducing the resolution of the captured imagery. In either case the utility of the system was severely circumscribed. PSi ViSiON (when mounted in a fully stabilized universal gimbal) combines continuous imagery data captured by large mega pixel focal plane arrays with a unique data structure which is then paired with an analyst’s viewer (or multiple viewers) that in itself is optimized for the same data structure. The result is that PSi ViSiON can deliver high-resolution, real-time, remotely accessed continuous surveillance imagery that allows users to zoom in and out, track moving objects in the big picture or in detail and view in forward/reverse modes both at fast/slow speeds.
