The Night of Bliss South Africa is the largest Christian gathering ever recorded in South Africa. It held on the 11th of March 2011 at the Soccer-city, FNB Stadium, South Africa. [1]This Stadium was the same used for the 2010 World Cup Finals, which was also the first World Cup Finals hosted in Africa.

Attendance

edit

The stadium, which is the largest Stadium in Africa with a capacity of 94,700[3] sat the over 100,000 people who attended the program as the field was also used to seat people. Many more were asked to watch it from home, as it was beamed live through several satellite and terrestrial Television stations around the world, and via the internet.[4][5]Due to heavy traffic on that day, the South African authorities had to block off a major road leading to the stadium, as people had started arriving a day before to sleep at the stadium.[6] [7]

Organizers

edit

The program was organized by Christ Embassy, a global Christian organization with the mandate of taking the divine present of God to the peoples and Nations of the World, and demonstrating the character of God's Spirit.[8] This ministry was founded by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome [9]in the 80's. Pastor Chris and his wife, Pastor Anita, are the publishers of the world renowned Rhapsody of Realities; a daily devotional which is published monthly in over 115 languages, and distributed worldwide.[10]

The program was an evangelical and healing crusade, aimed at ministering the Gospel to the attendee to lead them to salvation, and ministering divine healing to all sick folks present. This was achieved as over 50,000 people reportedly got saved, and many got healed during the program.
