_History of Nante Town_

Nante is a small town located in the Kintampo South Municipality of the Bono East Region in Ghana, covering an area of approximately 25 square kilometers.

_Founding and Early Years_

- 18th century: Nante was founded by a group of settlers from the Ashanti Region who were fleeing the wrath of Amakomhene.

- The people of Nante were hunters belonging to the Asante family (Asona).

- The group divided into two families: one settled in present-day Nante and the other in Thin (now known as Nsawkaw), forming the Nsawkaw stool land.

_The Elephant and the Gold_

- A group of hunters killed an elephant and found its tail was gold.

- They took the gold to Nana Amakomhene, who accused them of cheating and deceiving him.

- The hunters fled to avoid punishment and eventually settled in present-day Nante and Nsawkaw.

_Settlement and Growth_

- The Nante group landed on a Wednesday and found a river drowning an elephant.

- The leader, Nana Asamoa Baffoe, named the place Nante ("we have walked long to see wonders").

- Initially, Nante was a small farming community producing crops like yams, cassava, and maize.

- Over time, the town grew and became a center for trade and commerce.

- Similarly, Nsawkaw grew and developed its own unique identity and culture.

_Colonial Era and Modern Development_

- Late 19th century: Nante and Nsawkaw were colonized by the British, who introduced modern infrastructure and amenities.

- The towns became major producers of cocoa, exported to Europe.

- Today, Nante and Nsawkaw are thriving towns with rich cultural heritages and a strong sense of community, with a combined population of over 15,000 people.
