The disappearance of Shannan Gilbert

Shannan Gilbert, 24, disappeared May 1, 2010 from Long Island, New York. Shannan's driver, Michael Pak, drove her to meet, Joseph Brewer, a man who She arranged a visit with through a Craigslist ad. Around 5:00am, Shannan was seen running from Brewer's home and Pak's vehicle following her. Shannan ran to a nearby neighbor's house for help but when the man saw how distorted and incoherent Shannan was, he grabbed the phone to call police. Cell phone records indicate Shannan was on the phone with 911 for 23 minutes but police responded 45 minutes later. By then, Shannan was gone. Shannan Gilbert has not been seen or heard from since and no arrests have ever been made. After Shannan's disappearance, Joseph Brewer moved and is currently trying to sell his house and Michael Pak traveled down south to Atlanta, GA. Since her disappearance over a year ago, both men still maintain their innocence.

A Possible Serial Killer

edit

Shannan's disappearance sparked a police investigation which led to a total of 10 human remains found on Gilgo Beach. The first body was found on December 13, 2010 and three more were found just days later. In early March and April 2011, six more sets of skeletal remains were found. This is considered to be the largest unsolved murder case in Long Island history. An unidentified Asian male and toddler were among the remains found discarded along the beach, which do not appear to be related to the others.
