Lambda Sigma Phi (ΛΣΦ) is a fraternity established at The University of Alabama in 2000 and is a charter member of Interfraternity Council. The Fraternity is headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Lambda Sigma Phi was the first traditionally white fraternity at The University of Alabama to accept an African American into their fraternity. It is the only Christian Fraternity with a fraternity house on New Row.

Symbols edit

The Blue Shield was the first symbol adopted by the fraternity at the time of inception. Chosen as a symbol to represent God's plan for man encompassing all time and space. The Black Cross being the centerpiece in God's plan and the point which all wisdom, power and meaning come. The White Open Book representing God's word ultimately revealed in the person of Christ on the cross. The Inscribed 10x symbolizing the overcoming power inherent in every person who honors God's word in all circumstances. The Gold Crescent Moon depicting the pursuit of knowledge of God's creation.

The Beginnings edit

Lambda Sigma Phi was established in 2000 when Chip Riley, a middle school director at First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, encountered Morgan Plott, Jonathan Whitehurst, John Stuart Rabon, Stephen Bridgers and Blake Johnson. They all played church league basketball, however the team did not win many games. The loses piled on and they began to believe they couldn't beat the little sisters of the poor. This helped create the greek letters ΛΣΦ.

Popular Culture edit

Lambda Sigma Phi has drawn attention from rapper and multi platinum artist Nas with his song "These are our Heroes"
