Ron Kennell was born on May 30, 1970 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Classically trained at the George Brown College Theatre School in Toronto, Kennell starred in the world premiere of Pea Green Theatre's production of Monsieur D'Eon is a Woman, a role which won him his first Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination in 2000 [1]. Kennell's second Dora nomination would come in 2002 for his role as Schmendiman in the Canadian Stage production of Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Also in 2002, Ron travelled to the Fadjr International Theatre Festival in Iran to revive the title role in the English language premiere of Modern Times Stage Company classic Persian tale, Aurash. He returned to Iran in 2003, to revive his roles as Duncan and MacDuff as a part of the Modern Times Stage Company presentation of Macbeth.[2]. Between 2003 and 2008, Kennell was a company member of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. Among his celebrated performances at Stratford, Kennell played Cloten in Cymbeline, Lucullus in Timon of Athens, and Oswald in Brian Bedford's King Lear.
