User:Pkkao2/Las Vegas Trams/Mirage-Treasure Island Tram

The Mirage-Treasure Island Tram is an approximately 1,000 feet-long [citation needed] tram that connects The Mirage with nearby Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. The tram hours are 9 AM to 1 AM on weekdays (Sunday-Thursday) and 9 AM to 3 AM on weekends (Friday-Saturday). [1]

Technology

edit

The tram is cable-propelled and runs on an elevated guideway. A single train shuttles passengers between the two hotels. The train uses rubber tires[2].

Stations

edit

The Mirage station is located left of the hotel's main entrance but is outside. Despite the hot temperatures, the station is well shaded and provides a misting system during the hotter months.

The Treasure Island station is indoors near the parking garage entrance. In both stations, passengers must wait behind automatic gates. When the tram arrives, the gates open simultaneously with the tram doors, allowing passengers to exit and enter at the same time. Advertisements are displayed throughout both stations as well as inside the tram itself[3].

Tram

edit

The ride is slow; however, the tram moves rather smoothly. Inside the tram, seating is bus-style, with rows of seats along all four edges of the tram, and standing room is provided in the center of the tram. Eating, drinking, or smoking is not permitted within the tram[4].

The single tram arrives every 8 minutes, and the ride lasts 2-4 minutes. The guideway travels through palm trees and the parking garages of both hotels as well as over the Treasure Island swimming pool[5]
