User:Piotrus/Ideas for students

Dear students,

I am often asked 'what can I chose as my topic? In general, your topic should be related to the course topic, but our topics in sociology are very broad. You can see topics chosen by your colleagues in the past here. Note that majority of translations done are into Korean, so if you are an exchange student who wants to work in another language, like Chinese, many of the articles that have been translated to Korean are still available to you.

Here are some ideas of topics you could work on (I'll try to keep this up to date but you should always confirm the topic with me first, and after I confirm it you should add it to our dashboard page).

Entries that are crossed out have been recently reserved for another student for translation into Korean and are not available for that purpose (but they show you what your fellow students are working on; and they may still be fine for translating into another language like Chinese).

Important: when translating to English, please read User:TheLonelyPather/Essays/Guide for a translator and Wikipedia:Translation. When translating to Korean, ko:위키백과:번역 and ko:위키백과:번역에 대한 조언. When translating to Chinese, zh:维基百科:翻譯指引.

Note on article length. The minimum size of your article per student is 2,000 words (translation) or 1,000 words (research). This means that for group of two students, the numbers are 4,000 and 2,000, respectively. You can chose multiple shorter articles to translate to reach the required word quota.

Note on referencing: Unreferenced content cannot be translated without a reference being added first. All content translated requires a reference. Adding a reference to the original article (the one being translated) will however count for extra credit.

You can also expand the article you translate for extra credit.
