Ava Rose Longacre

Ava Rose was born on May 6, 1997 in Reading, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Jeff and Lissa Longacre.

Early Life Ava Rose attended the Wyndcroft School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania for her early childhood education, elementary school, and middle school. Other noteworthy alumni of this school include Taylor Swift. For high school she attended The Hill School. A family boarding school in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. She currently is at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Skiing Career She is a current member of the Division I ski team at The University of Colorado. Ava Rose began her skiing career at a young age. She won her first bronze medal in a Nastar Regional competition when she was just 7 years old. After that her career took off. She competed with the "Flying Dutchman" team based out of Bear Creek and Shawnee Ski Resorts. In 2012, she became captain of the "Flying Dutchman" and led her team to a gold medal victory in 2012 Junior Olympics. She took gold in all three events she competed in; down hill, super G, and slalom. 2014 Ava Rose attended the World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. She had a tough first day and ended in 27th place by the end of the day in the super G. The second day of competition she had a wipeout right at the start of the gate again in the super G qualifier. The fall resulted in two dislocated knees, a fractured left tibia, three fractured ribs on the left side, a shattered left ulna, a shattered left radius, fractured left humerus, a fractured tailbone, a dislocated left shoulder, and a fractured left collar bone. Ava Rose was on track to be a walk on at the 2014 Sochi Olympic games, but those dreams were shattered along with half of her body. Ava Rose did not make a skiing comeback until college when she committed to compete for the University of Colorado Buffalos Division I ski team in 2016. In 2016 she returned to the World Cup after battling for a qualifying time all season. In her first run of the day, on turn 6 of the downhill qualifier, she fell. This fall resulted in a left knee dislocation, two cracked ribs on the left side, and her chest impaled by her ski pole. It was later determined that her rib punctured her lung upon removal of the ski pole from her chest. 2017 she was seen at a preseason competition in Vail, Colorado in good health, almost fully recovered, with the University of Colorado ski team.
