Vernon Henry St John, 6th Viscount Bolingbroke

Vernon Henry St John was born in 1896, the youngest child of Henry St John, 5th Viscount Bolingbroke and Mary Elizabeth Emily Howard, the daughter of a blacksmith on the Viscount's Lydiard Park estate. Vernon was the youngest of the viscount's five children, but the only one not born illegitimate and so became the heir to the title.

In 1950 Vernon married Barbara Valezina Frohawk, the daughter of renowned artist and lepidopertist Frederick William Frohawk but the marriage was anulled in 1952

Vernon Henry St John died in May 1974 while living in Ringwood Hampshire

The story was fictionalised in The Heir of Starvelings[1] by Evelyn Berckman, an American author living in London. The book is dedicated to art historian Rupert Gunnis "who told me this true story".
