User:Physics is all gnomes/NPP tutorial/Sunday morning football in Kings park

Started in 2004, a football match is played most Sundays during the football season, on the Cricket outfield of Kings Park in Bournemouth.

Origins

edit

Started by a handful of friends in mid 2004, the fixture has become a regular occurrence during the Football Season. The open nature of the match means many players have simply turned up and started playing, although the regulars wish some wouldn't (Dan). Originally with the cliched 'jumpers for goalposts' and being an afternoon event, the matches have evolved to starting at 11:00am and more recently 10:30am (supposedly; depending when Rodney arrives with the goals, even if you go to pick him up he might have left already and not bothered to phone you).

Equipment

edit

The first goals to be regularly used were traffic cones liberated from a building site. This meant that wether a goal was scored or missed, the ball would go miles, especially if kicked by Rodney, Dickhead Dan, or Hudson. Big Mommas House would never go and get the bloody thing, so something needed to be done. Somewhen the players clubbed together and bought goals. This wasn't popular with everyone at first, but when it became apparent that Shaun was just as bad whether he had a net behind him or not, everyone thought that they were a good idea. Green bibs have been worn by one team since May 2010, a welcome change to the rotting hi-vis vests that were previously used.

Rules

edit

None.

Spin offs

edit

The Sunday morning football at kings park has spawned two notable spin-offs, the Jigsaw appeal tournament at the Littledown (one goal scored by Hudson) and the equally successful Thursday night 5 a side league, which we were proper rubbish at and finished bottom of division 5.
