The word philomath is a Greek derivative meaning something like "lover of learning." I particularly like it because it sounds like a combination of philosophy and math, two of my favorite mental worlds.

My real name is Tyler Neylon. Until a year ago I was a PhD student at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences in New York City. Since then I've graduated and started working as a software engineer at Google in Mountain View, California.
