Adam Hartung (1957- ) is a business consultant (founder of Vector Growth), speaker and author. He published a book about his theory of business failure and renewal- the Phoenix Principle. The book also defines the concept of 'white space' as a method for businesses to innovate. He coined the phrase Defend and Extend as the most common trap for business strategy. Creating a white space outside the business allows new innovations to be developed without the constraints of the Defend and Extend culture. Adam holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and is a columnist for Forbes magazine where he analyzes company failures and successes. He is also the Leadership editor for CIO magazine.
