In 2009, the Nagy's research team published a paper describing the use of transposons to generate IPS stem cells. The use of transposons has helped to simplify the creation of IPS stem cells. Dr Andras Nagy was selected for the first annual SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN Top 10 Honor Roll, sharing the honour with U.S. President Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg and other luminaries in the June 2009 issue of the magazine.

Another technological advance established by Andras Nagy is tetraploid complementation assay, a technology used to help study gene mutation that affect early development.
